Locale Wish #2

Learning some tough and fun lessons on watercolor. Gonna try and not be afraid to lay down some color to avoid the muckiness. At the same time I gotta learn to be patient, ’cause I love overlaying colors once they dry and letting the eye mix them on the paper. It’s a balancing act. I inked this with crowquills, which to me feels completely natural and I love the line. However, the brush lines seem to have a friendlier look to them (see my last few posts), at least with color. I’m so confused as to which one to use. What’s your vote, nib or brush w/the colors? Or am I just so anal retentive that only people as O.C. as I am would notice? Cartoonists, please chime in … HELP!

Breezin’ thru

More fig and color studies. I like her attitude pretty well, though. I’ve got a fondness for repeating wallpaper patterns, so I think I’ll start a wallpaper morgue or swipe file. I really mucked up the color on this. Oh, well, this is a sketchbook not a framed print. Win some, lose some. :)

Color fig study during the Con

I had fun just letting go and drawing the way I just do. Inspired by Matt Kindt, I grabbed my Daniel Smith’s and added some color.

Catching a Breeze

This pretty much sums up how I felt after a long, successful and amazing weekend exhibiting at Heroes Con 2010.
